Scaffolds are supported to support concrete or masonry structures during construction, from those that allow access and work of workers on hard-to-reach parts of the building such as the facade. There are other types of scaffolding that are mounted for construction elevators and cranes or concrete plants, as well as those used to bridge obstacles on the construction site.

Scaffolding is often used on site to access heights and areas that would otherwise be difficult to reach.

Today, prefabricated metal scaffolding is most often used, composed of typical elements, such as seamless steel pipes, which are connected by steel joints. Such scaffolding is erected in multi-storey buildings.
